OFMSW Fermentation with Different Inocula and Its Effects on Methane Production

چکیده

PurposeThermodynamically, lactic acid and ethanol allow the best energy recovery among all common metabolites for methane production. The main objective of this work was to favor fermentation OFMSW better production.MethodsAs a first step, fermented using two different inocula: Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) anaerobic granular sludge from UASB wastewater treatment plant. naturally occurring microorganisms in were always present active. second step methanization digestates previously mentioned fermentations.ResultsOFMSW with NOM + mainly produced acid; yeast ethanol, acid, volatile fatty acids. Methane production increased decreasing substrate concentration, higher obtained digestate fermentation. Higher concentrations propionic butyric acids observed after 30-day methanization.ConclusionEvery one more than unfermented OFMSW. not inhibited as propionic, lowest four cases.Graphical Abstract

Effects of extracts derived from pistachio by-products on ruminal fermentation and methane production

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different doses of pistachio by-product (PBP) extracts supplemented with alfalfa hay (AH) or barley grain (BG) on microbial fermentation in an in vitro fermentation system. The total extracted phenolic compounds were 36.96, 65.78, 67.02 and 8.85% and total extracted tannin contents were 37.11, 59.64, 56.87 and 7.55% when PBP was extract...

Methane Production of Different Forages in In vitro Ruminal Fermentation

An in vitro rumen batch culture study was completed to compare effects of common grasses, leguminous shrubs and non-leguminous shrubs used for livestock grazing in Australia and Ghana on CH4 production and fermentation characteristics. Grass species included Andropodon gayanus, Brachiaria ruziziensis and Pennisetum purpureum. Leguminous shrub species included Cajanus cajan, Cratylia argentea, G...

The Effects of Phenolic Compounds in Iranian Propolis Extracts on in vitro Rumen Fermentation, Methane Production and Microbial Population

The objective of this study was to determine the chemical compounds of Iranian propolis (IP) extracts and to show flavonoids and phenol effects on methane production, fermentation characteristics and rumen microbial population (in vitro). In this study two diets with different concentrate: forage ratios as (HC: high concentrate) and (MC: middle concentrate), respectively as non-supplemented or ...

Evaluating in vitro dose-response effects of Lavandula officinalis essential oil on rumen fermentation characteristics, methane production and ruminal acidosis

Four in vitro experiments (Exp.) were conducted to evaluate lavender essential oil (LEO) effects at 0 (control), 250 (low dose), 500 (medium dose), 750 and 1000 µL per L(high doses) of incubation medium on rumen gas production kinetics (Exp.1), ruminal digestibility and fermentation (Exp.2), methane production (Exp.3) and rumen acidosis (Exp.4). The asymptote of gas production (A) incr...

Anaerobic digestion of mechanically treated OFMSW: experimental data on biogas/methane production and residues characterization.

One of the more promising processes for the energetic transformation of waste is the anaerobic digestion of the Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (OFMSW). An experimental campaign was carried out on three different samples of OFMSW from Waste Separation (WS), one as received and two obtained after mechanical treatment (squeezing): OFMSW slurry (liquid fraction) and OFMSW Waste (residual...
